InTech Summer Trainings 2010

Intech Summer Trainings 2010

The InTech Summer Trainings were fun and we learned alot! A total of 121 teachers attended the Summer Trainings at Oceanway MS, Andrew Robinson, Lone Star Sheffield, Bartram Springs, Don Brewer, and New Berlin.
I am so impressed with all of the excellent teachers there are in our schools. It says so much that you took your summer break to attend training to learn more about how you can use new technology tools in your curriculum, hopefully to maximize student achievement.

The teachers seemed excited about learning about the new Tech Tools. It is so exciting that so many schools want to learn more about the technology in their schools, and the new tech tools- Web 2.0 tools.

Oceanway MS We learned about many Web 2.0 tools to integrate into the curriculum. We created blogs and wikis.
Some of the teachers posted their creations on the Blog and on their wiki page.

This is the link I plan on using in my kindergarten classroom. I will use it for parent information and use.

A site to find the perfect book--Libby Kelly--Henry F Kite Elementary

I created a wiki for teachers to post their best read alouds for modeling specific strategies such as envisioning, inferencing, and summarizing. I also recommended that teachers specify if it is available at the library and/or link to the amazon site.

Shaakera Thomas- Andrew Robinson

Hello Suzy,

Here is my Wiki that is currently under construction for my students. I would like to use it for my 5th graders so that they are able to access classroom resources on their own. It will serve as a news forum for both students and parents.

Attached is my new Wiki page! I plan on using the Wiki for classroom updates and resources on a weekly basis. For now, I have posted writing resources for both the students and parents to use prior to the writing FCAT. As the school year progresses, I would like to add student writing samples to use as guidelines as well. Once I become more comfortable with Wiki use, I will begin to add reading resources also.

I have yet to receive my blog confirmation, but I did create one. I also plan to use the blog as a writing resource. I was thinking of posting either a picture or a quote, then having students post responses for homework using various writing strategies. I will also have class updates for the parents. Thank you for information on these valuable resources!

Fiction/Non-Fiction Utilizing Fishbone Diagram

Standard: To promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.

Workshop Model: Select a book to read to the class. Teach students elements of fiction and non-fiction. Read the book. Divide students up into four groups. Project the Fishbone Diagram on the screen. Ask the students to use the Fishbone diagram as a guide to give one factor and the elements to support.

Ask each group to send one member at a time to give factor and elements to support. After each group has entered. Discuss each factor, clarifying as you go. After discussion, decide if the book is fiction or non-fiction.

Summer Technology Integration Trainings

Summer Technology Integration Training

Goals
Our Summer Training Goal is to learn about ways we can use technology tools to integrate into our curriculum. Our plan is to learn new technology tools and to develop lessons that effectively integrate both technology software and/or hardware into our curriculum. We want to incorporate the National Educational Technology Standards, Florida Sunshine State Standards our district software, digital tools and Oncourse to enhance instructional lessons for our digital learners.

Let’s create, collaborate, and share technology this summer!

Expectations:

  • Develop 1 model instructional lesson integrating digital tools to engage, empower, and educate our K-12 students.
  • Lessons need to be aligned with DCPS Learning Schedules, NETS and SSS Standards. Lessons will need to be posted on this Blog.
Please Bring
  • Laptop
  • Curriculum resources for your grade level or content area that might help you create a lesson.
